Following the success of the Higher Education Mission to China 2023 and in response to growing demand from the sector and a strong desire to build and strengthen relationships with key Chinese stakeholders, the British Council is planning a higher education mission of up to 20 vice-chancellors or pro-vice-chancellors for research/international to visit China in w/c 7 April 2025.
The mission aims to strengthen connections and mutual understanding between the higher education sector of both countries and help UK universities understand the fast-changing operating environment in Mainland China. The mission will focus on UK profile-building, transnational education and institutional partnership, research collaboration, alumni engagement, and enhancing the UK sector’s understanding of the latest policy and higher education landscape in China.
Working with UKRI and UUKi, the British Council will structure the mission around higher education and science dialogues, government agencies meetings, partnership and recruitment workshops, and alumni and stakeholder receptions in Beijing and Shanghai. There will also be an optional opportunity to visit Wuhan.
