Background
Around 130,000 mainland Chinese students are studying in the UK, with over 75% undertaking Higher Education courses. In China, agents play an important role in guiding students through their decision making process. Around 60% of the students use education agents for their overseas studies applications. These agents are the front line ‘sales’ representatives for UK education, supporting our work to recruit quality Chinese students, they are closely in touch with market sentiments.
British Council Agent Workshop in China
The British Council organises agent workshops annually in major cities in China, aiming to bring national education agents first-hand information on UK education, the latest visa policies and market trends, and to support them to prioritise and better promote UK education, as well as develop their capacity and professionalism.
This year, the workshops will be held in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chengdu respectively during the period of 4-11 Dec 2017. UK institutions are invited to attend the workshops to raise their profiles and discuss partnerships with agents through the below opportunities:
- Speakers at Further Education panel discussion
A thirty minute Further Education Panel Discussion will be held at each session’s workshop. Guest speakers are invited from the FE sector, who have a rich knowledge and experience of the sector and the China market.
Cost: free of charge
- Promotional opportunities at the workshops
At the workshops, UK institutions are invited to set up a table to promote their institutions and discuss partnerships with participating agents.
Cost: GBP 300 per workshop or a discounted cost of GBP 1000 for all four cities
- Digital marketing opportunities
The Study UK Agent WeChat Account is a well-developed B2B agent communication channel based on the highly popular social media platform WeChat (subscription account) with over 6,000 followers, mostly education consultants for agencies and language schools.
Cost: GBP 400 per post on Study UK Agent WeChat
