Sino-UK Higher Education Forum

29 October 2012, Cardiff

Building on the success of the previous two Sino-UK Higher Education Fora, British Council organised a third forum on 29 October 2012 with University of Cardiff and UK Higher Education International Unit in National Museum Cardiff. Around 80 people, including 26 senior Chinese university leaders who undertook three-week top management training in the UK, gathered together to discuss issues around university-industry link, including government role in the university/industry links, university/industry links for research collaboration, for the benefit of teaching and for the development of students.

The discussion will inform the implementation plan of the university-industry MOU signed at the launch of People to People Exchange in April 2012 between Department of Business, Innovation and Skills and Chinese Ministry of Education. Consensus has been reached concerning the exchange and training programme for university administrative staff in charge of university-industry collaboration. The programme will be led for the UK by British Council who will design and implement the programme in close discussion and collaboration with the Chinese National Academy of Education Administration which managed the above Chinese delegation.
