Seven Wonders of the World refers to remarkable constructions of the world which have been completed at any time from the ancient centuries to the present, including Angkor Wat in Cambodia.

The number ‘seven’ was chosen to represent the perfection that the ancient Greeks believed in.

Thus, to represent the perfection of the very first Study Tour in Cambodia, organised by British Council Thailand, the seven wonders we found throughout the road show are listed as follows:

1. From 2006 to 2010, there was a 58 per cent increase in the number of Cambodian students studying abroad, with 4,060 students in 2010.

2. The market brief on Cambodia, conducted by British Council Thailand was joined by Dr Nith Bunlay, Deputy Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, our very distinguished guest, who shared the overview of Cambodia’s politics, economy, technology and social change that have an impact on the education sector.

3. 11 representatives from UK institutions joined the study tour in Cambodia with 91% claiming that networking and new business partnerships have been expanded.

4. The study tour included visits to three of the best international schools in Phnom Penh, namely Zaman International School, Northbridge International School and International School Phnom Penh.

5. Approximately 300 students joined the roadshow, broadening their horizons about studying abroad in UK.

6. HE Mr Mark Gooding, British Ambassador, hosted a reception at the ambassadors’ residence for the first study tour in Cambodia with more than 50 distinguished guests from the field of education.

7. The first bilingual (Khmer/English) Study Tour in Cambodia guidebook was published, and widely distributed to the international schools in Cambodia
