Online provision – adapting to new delivery models

This session explored how to adapt academic delivery models in the short term to generate longer term success for UK institutions.  The panel discussed how institutions can move beyond the campus through technology, embracing high volume global teaching that spans national and cultural borders and blurs the distinction between international and domestic students.

This session discussed the innovative approaches being put in place to thrive in the new era of international education. The panel explored how the current situation is impacting the sector, reviewed the key challenges that are faced and the changes in strategy that have been made in order to adapt to changing market conditions. Student sentiment was also examined, as the panel outlined the support and welfare implications that have arisen.

Finding our way through a new era of international education (Independent Schools)

Wednesday 1 July 2020

This session discussed the key challenges faced by independent schools. The panel explored how the current situation is impacting the sector, reviewing the challenges specific to independent schools. The solutions that have been implemented were discussed, including the changes to both staff and student recruitment, the creation of a ‘no contact’ admissions system, and the redesign of marketing strategies. The panel also highlighted how they have ensured a high degree of pastoral and wellbeing support for students and staff during this period by creating podcasts, games and competitions.

Transnational education – adapting to and fostering ‘new world’ partnerships

This session presented strategies to evolve TNE propositions. As the higher education sector faces potential long-term restrictions on inbound students, our panel highlighted the importance of working with TNE partners to maintain student figures. The session explored the measures that are fundamental to managing a portfolio of TNE partners, the process for establishing new successful networks, and the importance of quality control within the new environment.

Effective support and student services for international students

This session highlighted practices for providing effective support and services for international students. As proven student support and welfare could become the deciding factor for many students considering study in the UK, our panel highlighted best practice scenarios to better support international students. This session also discussed the importance of thorough student services and showcases a five-phase transition programme created to facilitate more effective lines of communication.
