Recruitment for the Vincent Wright chair at Sciences Po, Paris

Applications are invited from academics currently employed in a British university or research institute for the annual Vincent Wright Chair for a period of five months from January–June 2018. During his lifetime, Vincent Wright played a very considerable part in orienting comparative research in Europe. The aim of this Chair is to develop comparative research within a European framework, reflecting the innovative spirit, sense of humour and intellectual curiosity which characterised the man. The Chair aims to reinforce and consolidate Franco-British academic cooperation in one of the five following areas: • Economics • Contemporary History • Political Science • Sociology • Law The successful candidate will be Paris based and will be invited to lecture at both undergraduate and graduate level for approx. 4 hours per week over a 12 week semester. The undergraduate lectures may be given in our Reims campus (40 minutes away from Paris by train) whereas teaching at Master level will take place at our Paris campus. The approach will most likely be comparative and lectures may be given in either English or French. The successful candidate will also be closely associated with academic activity at Sciences Po.

Applicants are required to have completed their doctorate, to have teaching experience in the university sector and a strong record in terms of research and publication. Interested faculty should prepare a narrative explaining the nature of their proposed visit. All proposals must include evidence of support in principle from the head of the proposed Sciences Po host department or research centre.
