The British Council would like to invite UK higher education institutions to host a delegation of visiting Chinese international school staff as part of the International School UK Tour 2018. The purpose of the tour is to provide the visiting Chinese delegation with an opportunity to further their overall understanding of the UK higher education system, including teaching methodology, university application procedure, student support and scholarships etc.

The British Council is now seeking expressions of interest from UK higher education institutions to host the Chinese delegation during their visit, which is scheduled from 16 to 30 June 2018 or from 15 to 29 September 2018.

Host institutions will need to provide a half-day programme that will showcase their unique strengths and support the Chinese delegation in furthering their understanding of the offerings of a UK education. The programme will need to include a presentation on a topic allocated by the British Council and chosen by the visiting delegation (topic preferences can be selected in the application form). In addition, host institutions need to arrange further aspects of the programme, e.g. campus / facility tours, meetings with key staff, workshops / activities etc.

The British Council will be responsible for all logistical arrangements.

Host institutions will be expected to provide refreshments during the visit.

Welcome reception

A welcome reception and networking event will be hosted in London on the first evening of the tour. The reception will provide an excellent opportunity for UK universities to engage with the delegation, with designated time slots made available for individual meet-ups between institutions and members of the delegation. The exact time and place will be available after the visit dates are confirmed. 

Participation fee

• Host the delegation* -- £800, exclusive of VAT
• Join the welcome reception -- £200, exclusive of VAT

*hosts institutions receive two free admissions to the welcome reception
 

The participation fee will cover programme planning, coordination between UK host institutions and participating Chinese schools, activity promotion, briefings for participating institutions, and logistical support during the tour. 

Please note that a minimum of eight UK host institutions and 15 Chinese schools are required for the tour to go ahead. The British Council reserves the right to cancel the tour if these minimum participation numbers are not met.
