The first Study UK Qualifications in Asia roadshow will take place on 7-10 April 2017. This programme is an opportunity for UK branch campuses and TNE providers in Asia (including the Middle East) to build awareness of UK qualifications in Asia, and meet and recruit students from the growing Kazakhstan market. The roadshow is now open for application from UK branch campuses and TNE providers (i.e. local partners of UK universities).
The programme will include public facing mini-exhibitions with seminars in centrally located venues in Almaty and Astana with a school fair also held in each city. The public facing mini-exhibition will be supported by pre-event promotion to the relevant target audience, including online advertising, personal invitations, flyers, mail-shots to the target audience and social media promotion.

Our target is to reach 500-700 prospective students in each city to participate in the programme.

The programme is intended to open and develop the Kazakh market for UK branch campuses and TNE providers in markets such as Singapore, Malaysia and the Middle East. Kazakhstan is a rapidly growing market for overseas education, with the number of Kazakh students studying abroad more than doubling since 2006 The local higher education system in Kazakhstan relies on testing and memorisation, meaning that overseas degrees are highly valued. While a significant proportion of Kazakh students currently study in Russia, UK qualifications delivered via TNE may provide a high quality and value for money option for students who for whatever reason may not have the means or desire to study in the UK.

Structure of programme
The programme will include four events, two each in Almaty and Astana. Each city will have one public facing event and one school fair.
Each event will involve mini-exhibition style for consultations (with each participating institution having a decorated table with pull up banner) and seminars/ workshops to educate student and parents on the UK TNE offer. Participating institutions will take turns delivering seminars, the exact mechanic for allocating these will depend on the number of institutions signed up. These would be generic in nature (in order to build awareness and therefore stimulate demand)), with participating institutions delivering the presentations but with British Council PPT templates. Topics could include the student experience, support provided to students, application procedures, employment upon graduating etc. British Council staff will also be present to answer general enquiries.

Promotional materials
British Council, where appropriate, will provide schools with promotional materials such as bespoke eflyer and poster to advertise the event to their students and parents.
Promotion for the public facing event will be in the form of a campaign across various marketing channels in the lead up to the event, as mentioned above

Participation fee and criteria
A participation fee of GBP 2,600 will be charged. The participation fee will cover programme planning, co-ordination, briefing, promotional materials and logistical support during the programme. Transfers, accommodation and meals are not included.
A maximum of two representatives from each participating institution can join the event. One representative must be staff of your institution. The second representative can be a local agent.
A maximum 15 institutions will be permitted to join the programme, on a first come-first serve basis.

A similar programme is also being organised to take place in Thailand (Bangkok and Chiang Mai) in late 2017, with other markets to follow in 2018.
