From May to June, 10 sessions of pre-departure briefing organised by British Council China will take place Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Wuhan and Qingdao.

The briefing sessions are open to all students in China who will depart for the UK for autumn enrolment in 2013. Detailed information about visa application, study, accommodations, financial arrangements, food and diets, transportation, telecommunication and key cultural differences will be introduced to the students and their parents.

Newly returned alumni will be invited to the briefing sessions to share their inspiring experience of studying and living in the UK. Our colleagues at the UK Border Agency will also be invited to selected sessions to provide the most up-to-date information about PBS Tier 4 student visa applications.

This year we are arranging two special sessions, one in Beijing and one in Guangzhou, which will be Pre-Departure Fairs.  The fair will bring together institutions and the British Council to provide a ‘one-stop shop’ service to students.  It will give students specific institution information alongside the latest up-to-date visa information and useful tips and tools to make their journey and experience in the UK as smooth as possible.

The Fair will be an excellent opportunity to provide a large number of students with the information they need.  To take part in the Fair, please see below for the costs involved:

Onsite exhibition (GBP 300 per city in BJ or GZ):

  • The British Council will prepare a “UK Institution zone” where individual institutions can display materials about studying and living at their university.
  • Each institution will have a table where they can share videos and other materials with students and encourage them to exchange contact detail and share transportation booking information.
  • The British Council will offer 1 tweet from its official microblog account to inform the online audience which institutions are participating, as well as raise awareness amongst the public about how international students are cared for and looked after at your institution in order to attract more applicants next year.
