UK organisations/institutions are invited to submit a proposal to conduct a skills gap analysis for Indonesian youth with disabilities in West Java and Bali.
The study will be conducted in partnership with an Indonesian organisation/institution.
Background
There are both national and regional rules and regulations concerning people with disabilities in Indonesia, which aim to protect and offer equal opportunities in terms of access to education, employment and other rights.
According to the Central Statistics Agency, in 2020 there were 22 million people with disabilities in Indonesia, but only seven million of the 17 million of working age are in employment.
The British Council’s Next Generation survey showed that young people recognised the need to equip themselves with more skills and experience to be considered for positions, and feel there is often a mismatch between the skills they receive in their education and the skills required in the workplace.
Our work with young people
Through our non-formal education (NFE) work, the British Council aims to empower young people around the world aged 18-35 to contribute to trust-building, cohesion and stability in their societies, and to represent their communities on a local, regional and national stage.
By connecting young people, we support them to build alliances and networks. These connections enable them to work across cultural differences to act positively on the big global challenges that affect their lives and communities.
Our work in NFE focuses on facilitating programmes that provide opportunities for young people:
- to put their skills and ambitions into practice
- to connect with others
- to raise their collective voice.
