To maximise opportunities for UK Universities, the British Council China plans to work with a selection of local A-level schools, foundation schools and independent schools in China for a series of Education UK promotional activities in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Guangzhou.
A unique chance to meet with high quality A-level / independent school students in China (and Hong Kong)!

Cost
| The 2014 China School Tour will be open to all UK higher education providers at a cost of GBP300 for each local school. This includes: · Meetings with contacts from local A-levels / independent schools for partnership building · 15-20 minutes presentation to students (AS level and below or equivalent) · Face to face counselling and distribution of promotional materials to students at A-level / international schools Please note that the participation fee does not include VAT, international or domestic travel, accommodation, subsistence or freight. |
Cancellation deadlines
| The client may cancel the services prior to their delivery by giving the British Council written notice of cancellation. If the client cancels at least three weeks before (30th September 2014) the client shall not be required to pay the British Council any fees in connection with the cancelled Services and any fees already paid in respect of such cancelled Services shall be refunded by the British Council. If the client cancels the Services less than three weeks prior to (30th September 2014), the client shall be liable to pay the British Council the percentage of the charges for such cancelled Services set out below: Notice Period Percentage of charges payable 20 calendar days or less 100% 10 - 20 calendar days 75% |

Visa | A visa is necessary for UK passport holders. Where visas need to be obtained, the British Council may be in a position to provide guidance but it is the responsibility of the applicant institution to follow the correct procedures. The event
British Council China would like to invite you to participate in the 2014 China School Tour, which will be held in Qingdao, Beijing, , Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Shenzhen in October and November 2014.
These events are mainly for directly recruiting students from local A-Level or independent Schools. This year, the theme is science and technology subjects. From our experience, the best way to reach out to students at these schools is to provide useful and practical information about life at UK universities. We would suggest each participating university to select and prepare 1-2 topics for your presentation listed below together with a brief introduction of the University.

- Tips on applying through UCAS
- How to write a good Essay
- Writing Academic reference in essays or dissertation
- University library and online sources
- Induction on supporting team – International office, career or alumni office
Aims of the event
§ To position the UK as the first choice for international students
§ To showcase the variety of opportunities within the UK’s higher education system
§ To provide UK institutions with a platform to recruit international students and discuss collaborative projects with Chinese schools
§ To provide first hand information to a variety of students exploring opportunities for study in the UK
British Council’s role
§ To invite UK institutions to participate in the 2014 China School Tour
§ To facilitate networking and partnership building between UK institutions and local A-levels / international schools
§ To arrange face to face counselling with students from the local A-levels / international schools
§ To arrange the presentation sessions at local A-levels / international schools
Programme – to be confirmed
Details of the school introductions in each city are being complied and will be provided to every confirmed participating UK institution by 26 September 2014.
Applicants could email the British Council contact for city specific details (if available).
Confirmation letters will be sent out by 14 October 2014.
