The British Council Vietnam’s English Programmes ELT in Education strand is seeking a consultant to support a Ministry of Education and Training (MOET)-appointed Advisory Council to develop two sets of programme standards for pre-service English language education, aligned with the Vietnamese Qualifications Framework (VQF) (2016). One set of standards will relate to English pedagogy and one set of standards will relate to English language.

Expected outputs and outcomes of the project are summarised as below:

Outcome 1 – Clear programme standards are established and implemented for English pedagogy and English language education in Viet Nam which reflect a closer alignment between the theory and knowledge taught at academic institutions across Viet Nam, and the practical skills needed to better prepare students for employability upon graduation.

Outcome 2 - UK is recognised as a partner of choice in quality English language policy development.

2.1 Final set of Programme Standards for English language

2.2 Final set of Programme Standards for English pedagogy

2.3 Final report on the research into and analysis of capabilities required of learners of English language and English pedagogy.

Phase 3 Output

3.1 Training plan and guidelines to support the introduction of programme standards across colleges and universities in Vietnam.

3.2 Plan for the delivery of training to two pilot groups

Project timeline: Provisional project dates are October 2022 - March 2023.
