Subsequent to releasing the new regulations for academic collaborations between Indian and foreign higher educational institutions to offer twinning, joint degree and dual degree programmes, the University Grants Commission (UGC) is now actively seeking to create and promote opportunities for such collaborations.  Our previous news post containing regulations and our analysis can be found here.

As part of its outreach efforts, the UGC has communicated to the Indian overseas posts as well as foreign universities in the US, UK, Europe, and East Asia with a list of eligible Indian universities meeting the requisite criteria stipulated in the regulation. The Indian High Commission in London has shared the official list with whom collaborations can be explored and a memorandum of understanding can be signed.  The list is attached for your information.

Under the regulations, participating foreign HEIs should be amongst the top 1000 in either the Times Higher Education or QS ranking, and the Indian HEIs in the top 100 in the National Institutional Ranking Framework or have a minimum score of 3.01 from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.

The UGC also plans to hold a meeting with heads of foreign missions in India to discuss possibilities of tie-ups.
