UK Education Open Day: Chittagong 1 June and Dhaka 22 June 2013

Key Highlights of the event:

This is the first time British Council has organised Agent’s Exhibition in Dhaka & Chittagong in June 2013. The responses were huge from both the Agent and students end. The visitors as well as the agent expressed their interest to hold such event frequently in near future which can help in promoting UK education. Total 12 Agents participated in the event; 8 in Chittagong and 10 in Dhaka.

The event in Chittagong

Total no. of visitors in Chittagong: 174

Some of the comments by the visitors of Chittagong:

  • I think such activity should often take place in Chittagong. Like Dhaka we don’t get much opportunity
  • It is satisfactory as it now so no more suggestions
  • All the UK based University can provide spot admission facility

  • It’s really new approach and innovative
  • Events in Dhaka are preferred targeting September and January intake
  • Good for profile raising and UK Education promotion
  • It was a good event. Could have used electronic media and local institution. Send letters , invitation to them if possible

A group of 20 students came from Comilla, one of the prominent districts of Chittagong division by bus to attend the event. They were very keen about the UK education and they are planning to study in UK when they become eligible to study. They visited each stall accompanied by their teacher and collected necessary information. 

 

The event in Dhaka

  • Doing these activities more often
  • British Council should advertise more, so that more students can be informed and can attend
  • Each booth must show the university list with which they deal
  • The event should be organized more in Dhaka as well as outside Dhaka
  • Continue this type of event
  • Need info more about Medical Science
  • I think its very helpful for us and I wish that it would be longer lasting in future
  • Its good overall just need a little organisation
  • This type of programme should be held more
  • More detailed knowledge about specific subjects such as literature would be helpful in the future

This is the first time British Council’s has arranged an ‘Alumni corner’ in an event. The alumni were from different renowned universities like University of Nottingham, University of Warwick, University of London and University of Manchester. One of them was Commonwealth Scholar and another one was Manchester Equity & Merit Scholar. The alumnus shared their experience with the visitors and advised to choose right university according to their choice considering so other factors. The visitors praised this kind of initiative and requested to organise more like this because they found it very useful.
