The British Council Vietnam successfully hosted the Sterling Group’s seventh consecutive mission to Vietnam this September, building on fruitful outcomes for the group from their previous visits. 

A wide range of activities were carried out for the Sterling Group member universities over a one-week visit in Hanoi, Danang and Ho Chi Minh City, aiming both at profile raising and collaboration exploration. 

The Sterling Group professors inspired over 2,000 Engineering students and faculties at 18 elite engineering universities and schools with a series of generic talks and academic lectures.

A networking dinner and 22 partnership meetings were held for the Sterling Group representatives to make contact and discuss collaboration possibilities in research, teaching, and student and academic exchange with their local counterparts. 

On this occasion, the British Embassy introduced a new UK government’s initiative, Newton Fund, to support research partnerships between the UK and Vietnam.

The Sterling Group consists of UK Research-led Engineering Universities which share a commitment to international excellence in Engineering research and teaching.  Participants this year included five academics from four universities including Aston University, University of Leeds, Newcastle University, and Queen’s University Belfast.
