The number of Bulgarian students in UK HE institutions has been steadily increasing since 2007 and the Education UK exhibition in Bulgaria held on 11 November 2012 illustrated this trend. In order to highlight this increasing interest, special branding was mounted at the entrance to the exhibition promoting the UK as a GREAT destination. The exhibitors were appreciative of this as well as the quality and number of the students.

With 1,200 visitors (20% increase on the previous one held in March 2011), the exhibition was busy throughout the day with queues forming at exhibitor booths during peak hours.

An additional event for the exhibitors was organised by British Council Bulgaria on the day before the exhibition. This was a series of meetings with representatives of Bulgarian educational agents as well as Bulgarian universities in order to explore partnership opportunities.
