Xiamen Institute of Technology is calling for UK partner Institutions to establish joint programmes in South China

Brief introduction of Xiamen Institute of Technology

Xiamen Institute of Technology, Huaqiao University (XIT) has been approved by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. It is a private University co-established by Huaqiao University and Fujian Jindi Group Company Limited. The campus is located in the cultural and educational area of Jimei District, in the City of Xiamen. It has a strong innovative academic environment close to many other educational and research institutions such as, Jimei University and the Institute of Urban Environment affiliated under the jurisdiction of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The campus currently houses approximately 5,000 students and is planning to receive an enrolment of 10,000 students in near future. XIT has eight departments and eleven disciplines. These departments consist of basic Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture and Urban Planning, Material Sciences and Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronic, and Business.

In terms of international cooperation, the Institute has already launched a “3+1 co-operational education model” with Da-Yeh University in Taiwan. For the record in the fall of 2011, the first group of students started their study in Taiwan.

Ambition from the Chinese partner:

Xiamen Institute of Technology is expecting to cooperate in a variety of patterns and levels with a British counterpart in engineering so as to make a wider range of cooperation in professional communication, teacher training, exchange of visits between teachers and students, curriculum docking and cooperation in running schools.
