The University of Macau

Macau
While Macau may be best known for its hospitality and gaming industries, Macau has much to offer students and visiting academics. with her rich history and culture. The historic centre of Macau was listed as a World Heritage site in 2005, and includes 20 individual sites. As a former Portugese colony, Macau is a mix of Eastern and Western influences.

Macau is conveniently located one hour from Hong Kong by fast ferry, with direct ferries to Hong Kong International Airport. Macau’s own airport offers low cost carrier flights to Mainland China and around the Asian region.

Exchange Opportunities
FBA currently has around 100 incoming students from abroad on exchange programmes each year, and is keen to increase to around 300 per year.

UM is keen to form exchange partnerships with UK universities with good teaching quality, and who may look to broaden this relationship over time, with academic exchanges as a second step.

The Academic year at UM starts in late August, with the first semester finishing in December. The second semester begins in January and concludes in May.

UK universities that are interested in establishing formal ties with UM-FBA which would allow student and faculty exchanges can contact British Council in the first instance, and responses will be forwarded to UM for direct follow up.
