The Zhengzhou Education Bureau wishes to hold two week training programmes for three subjects: Art, PE and Music. The aim is for them to acquire an understanding of the course structure and delivery of these three subjects in UK secondary schools. They should be able to adapt the UK’s teaching philosophy and pedagogy to their own class needs with the aim of maximising student engagement, raising student attainment, and helping students discover the joy of these subjects, leading to further study.

Length: 2 weeks (Expected to happen in the first two weeks of July 2016)
Number of trainers: 1 trainer for each subject
Number of trainees: 30- 35 teachers from each individual subject from local secondary schools
Location: Local school
Format: Face-to-face lecture-based training with practice sessions
Budget: The Chinese partner has a maximum budget of RMB50,000 (about £5,000) per week for the training programme (please note that the British Council will charge 20 per cent of the final programme price as a management fee).

Zhengzhou:

Zhengzhou, 1 of the 8 great ancient capitals of China, is the provincial capital of Henan Province in east central China, located just 3 hours away by train from Beijing. As a prefecture-level city, it also serves as the political, economic, technological, and educational centre of the province, as well as a major transportation hub for Central China. Zhengzhou is increasingly attracting domestic and international investment as well as migrants from other areas, transforming the city into one of the largest economic centres in China.

UK Provider:

The UK provider must be a qualified Art, PE or Music teacher with at least ten years of relevant professional experience. UK providers who meet these requirements and are interested in this opportunity should submit a training proposal including a rough training plan and a quotation outlining all the costs related to the project, including any expected expenses for the trainer. The Chinese partner will provide the venue and the onsite accommodation for the trainer as well as lunches.

Training is to be delivered in English. Zhengzhou Education Bureau will arrange for an interpreter to assist during the teaching.
