I am writing to invite you to Sino-UK Higher Education Collaboration on Architecture Design Phase II (2014).

The Sino-UK Higher Education Collaboration on Architecture Design Programme aims to provide the UK and Chinese higher education institutions with an effective platform to build up meaningful and sustainable cooperation over a three-year period (2013-2015). It has a tripartite approach by strengthening relations between the governments, higher education institutions and industry. In 2013 the programme consisted of a Sino-UK students’ workshop on Brown Field Regeneration in April in Beijing, and a return visit by Chinese delegation to UK universities in October with participation of 18 universities (12 from the UK and 6 from China). The preliminary outcomes included a call for establishment of a Sino-UK platform for long-term, comprehensive and sustainable collaborations between the governments, HEIs and businesses; potential academic collaboration between universities in two countries; and increased mutual understanding and knowledge about higher education and industrial development on architecture.

Building on the outcomes achieved in the first phase, the British Council has agreed with Architectural Society of China to go through the second phase of the programme with participation of 12 UK and Chinese universities (six from each country). The programme will include a students’ workshop on Brown Field Regeneration, public lectures and a two-day internship for UK students in the city of Harbin, Heilongjiang Province of China in 15-30 September 2014 as well as the reciprocal visit for Chinese delegation to the UK in March 2015.
