Registration now open for TNE workshop with China's Ministry of Education

What are China’s priorities for international education partnerships? What are the obligations of foreign partners? How does the Ministry of Education assess applications to set up joint Sino-foreign programmes and institutes?

These and other questions will be answered in a workshop with experts from China’s Ministry of Education on 3 June, organised by the British Council China.

Introduction

There are many considerations and implications for UK institutions wishing to partner with China in delivering TNE programmes. 'What makes China tick?' will discuss the regulations and trends in China’s transnational education market. Experts from China’s Ministry of Education will be invited to discuss the common issues faced by institutions when applying to set up joint programmes and institutes in China, and shed light on the type of partnerships that are most welcomed by Chinese institutions and authorities. Case studies will also be presented to share best-practice.

This is a must-attend session for all UK institutions with current or planned TNE partnerships in China. The session is free of charge and will be chaired by Jazreel Goh, Director Education Operations, British Council China. Please be advised that the event is open to UK education institutions only.

Background

Internationalisation of the education sector is a key component of China’s national plan for development and a large number of Sino-foreign education partnerships have been established in recent years, both in China and overseas.

The UK holds the top position in China’s transnational education market with more than 250 partnerships at degree level and above, but approval of new partnerships is becoming stricter. The Chinese Ministry of Education is emphasising partnerships in strategic subject areas and paying more attention to the quality delivery of foreign partner institutions. There has also been a shift towards promoting partnerships with institutions based in China’s central and western regions.
