Preparing higher education for Digital Transformation

British Council in Viet Nam invites UK universities to join the online conference 'Preparing higher education for Digital Transformation on 21 September 2021. The event will be participated by Vice Minister and Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training in Viet Nam, who will share higher education landscape in Viet Nam in digital transformation. The event will also introduce current opportunities to work in partnership with Vietnamese universities under British Council Going Global Partnerships initiative.

Context

The global context requires higher education sector to transform digitally in order to respond to the industry 4.0, to cope with the disruption of learning due to Covid-19, and to make it relevant, agile and adaptive to the shifting needs of the next generation – the digital generation Alpha - in gaining knowledge and transversal skills that prepare them for a changing world of work.

In responding to the global changing context and the challenge of disruptive learning, Viet Nam higher education sector needs to improve experience to embarking innovation in teaching, learning and research through digitalisation. This move requires investment in platform, revolution in institutional operation, improvement of teaching and learning capacity but at the same time ensuring quality student experience and skills development. 

Aims

The conference is co- organised by the British Council in Viet Nam and the Ministry of Education and Training in partnership with UK-Viet Nam Higher Education Network represented by Hanoi University of Science and Technology as the Chairing university and Global Wales, with support from UK Department of International Trade.
The conference aims to:

  • bring UK and Viet Nam government officers, HE leaders to discuss challenges and opportunities for digitalisation of higher education to respond to HE sector growth in both countries and how policy development helps address those issues
  • discuss shared institutional challenges and issues between UK and Viet Nam universities
  • share best practices, case studies on application of innovative model in digitalising teaching, learning and research
  • enable and support partnership creation on digital transformation
