About Gender Equality Partnerships

Why does gender equality matter? Despite women succeeding academically, evidence shows that it is more challenging for women to succeed in their future careers, both within and outside education following their studies, and particularly in fields where men are overrepresented, such as STEM.

Aiming to promote partnerships and systemic change, our Gender Equality Partnerships grant initiative was desgined to address four priority themes.

  • Prevention of violence against women and girls with a particular focus on higher and further education institutions as safe spaces for women .
  • Addressing women’s underrepresentation in higher and further education leadership .
  • Enabling access and tackling subject segregation, particularly in the area of STEM (including encouraging STEM-related learning).
  • Strengthening pathways into employment for women graduates from higher and further education.

This online session aims to reflect on the crucial mandate of investing in women to accelerate progress towards gender equality and the role that higher and further education institutions can play. It will bring together diverse voices and perspectives from Gender Equality Partnerships projects across the globe, who will share how institutional partnerships can tackle gender inequality.
