Opportunity for UK Universities to join the UK-China Arts Education Exchange

Opportunity

A leading Chinese real estate company, New World China Land Limited (“NWCL”), is looking for a UK university to partner with to deliver an arts exchange programme together with the British Council China.

From 2016-2018, NWCL aims to secure a total of three UK partner universities to run three consecutive one-year collaborative arts exchange programmes (one university per year). The first year of bilateral arts exchange in collaboration with Reading University has already passed (please see the attachment for a summary of the first exchange programme).  They are now looking for a UK partner for the 2017 exchange programme.

Format of the programme

Stage 1 – One Chinese teacher and eight Chinese art students from a reputable university in Wuhan will travel to the UK for a three-week programme to collaborate with their counterparts from the UK partner university in sessions designed and led by UK academics.

Stage 2 – One UK teacher will lead a group of eight UK art students from the UK partner university to Wuhan, China for a three-week autumn programme, designed and led by academics from the Chinese partner university and working with the Wuhan art students and teacher involved in stage one.

Stage 3 – All artwork produced from this collaboration will be exhibited at the prestigious New World China Land Limited Art Centre in Wuhan where it will remain.

Funding: All the travel and accommodation of the 16 students and two teachers on the programme will be covered by New World China Land Limited.

       Prospective UK partner requirements

The UK partner will be responsible for:

  1. recruiting UK university students and teachers to participate in both the UK and China programmes
  2. designing the three-week UK programme, providing and covering the cost for the venue, facilities and materials needed
  3. providing logistical support for the Chinese visiting teacher and students: visa invitation letters, accommodation and other logistical arrangements in the UK
  4. pro-actively participating in the three-week China programme, including organising the necessary visas to visit China and any domestic transportation
  5. covering the professional fees for participating UK teachers where necessary.
