Opportunity for a UK institution to deliver a two-week summer programme for students from Yunnan Province, China

Opportunity
A training and research centre in Yunnan is looking for a UK partner to design, deliver and manage a two-week summer programme for young learners aged from 7 to 18 in July 2017.

Background
This training and research centre is an experienced overseas study provider and has assisted local education authorities host pre-departure training programs for over 3,000 college students and government funded scholars since 2014.

Objective
The summer study programme aims to utilise the UK’s expertise and resources to help young learners from primary and middle schools in Yunnan province to achieve the following: - learn and experience British culture - experience the UK’s educational environment - contribute to their personal development through improving their English skills, communication skills and leadership skills - prepare for continuing education overseas (for high school students).

Scope
1) Programme elements
The two-week programme should include:
A. Excursions to places of historical interest in the UK
B. Well-designed courses or activities in at least two of the following areas:

  • English courses
  • leadership and personal-development training
  • visits to world-leading universities in the UK
  • visits to world-leading companies or representative institutes
  • introduction to universities and preparation for applications
  • activities/specialised courses such as horse riding, golf, drama, music, dance, design, football etc.
  • full-time real classroom experience with local students in primary and secondary schools

2) Participant profile
This programme will target students aged from 7 to 18 in Yunnan province. Participants will be arranged in groups of 25 to 30 according to their ages. Courses for the groups of students under the age of 14 should focus more on cultural experiences, whilst courses for the groups of students above the age of 14 should focus more on improving their leadership skills and developing their creativity.

3) Programme period The summer study programme should be two-weeks (14-15 days) in length, starting from mid-July, so as to coincide with Chinese school holidays.

4) Budget The study programme should accommodate 30 students per group and be delivered within a maximum budget of 24,000 RMB (approx. 2,700 GBP) per participant, which should include tuition fees, accommodation, tickets for visiting sites and local transportation.

5) Certification Each student must receive a certificate and academic report from the UK institution upon completion of the programme. Requirements for UK Institutions • UK institutions interested in this opportunity must be accredited by the UK government and British Council.

Please include the following information:

  • An introduction to your institution, your location, accommodation options, facilities, academic lessons, activities, excursions and detailed schedules for the programme 
  • Programmes with homestay options and buddy programmes for each student would be preferred. Please specify any requirements for participants for recruitment. 
  • Programmes including parents as group members and those for younger or elder ages will also be consider.
