The collaboration will be in the form of joint research under Newton Fund Institutional Links.

Benefits

UK partner will be granted maximum GBP 100,000 to undertake activities. The UK partner will create long-term relationships and to write together high-quality research paper that based on the empirical data. Our proposed research is novel and could be very useful for any disaster risk reduction programs.

The UK Partner:

The UK partner would be expected to help Dr. Maila Dinia Husni Rahiem in research design, data analysis, report writing and publication. She will need other perspectives to look at the research findings.

Dr. Maila Dinia Husni Rahiem:

State Islamic University Syarif Hidayatullah will manage the project with cooperation with the other partner/s, as the institution have close relationship with the tsunami affected communities. And since Dr. Maila Dinia Husni Rahiem worked in the community two months after the Aceh tsunami, she will be able to build connection with the people in the community, the government of Aceh, and some community based organization.

Outcome

This research is significant to contribute to the knowledge of disaster risk reduction and mitigation programs, for example in mental health, shelter rebuilding, medical health and livelihoods, also for policy makers, developmental agencies and the government in the planning, implementing and monitoring of support and intervention programs for children in disaster affected areas.

Who should involve in this project?

Academics, practioners, Indonesian Community for Disaster management, and community based organizations in Banda Aceh dan Aceh Besar Regency.

When should the project take place?

Should the proposal approved, the project is expected to start in January 2018.

We will write to you as soon as possible, especially when the call for Newton is about to end. The project is expected to start by January 2018.

How to participate

Please send the expression of interest to be the collaborator at the latest on 6 June 2017.

The proposal should include the work plan, the grant proposed budget, and Dr. Maila Dinia Husni Rahiem is open for discussion in order to make the proposal clearer and has more impacts.
