Opportunity to be listed as a degree option for Korean civil servants Korea-UK LINK (Learn, Innovate, Network through Knowledge) capacity building programme

INTRODUCTION

The British Council in Korea has been commissioned to administer a government-funded capacity building programme for Korean civil servants from September 2021.  The programme, Korea-UK LINK (Learn, Innovate, Network through Knowledge), partially succeeds the Chevening Scholarship provided in partnership with Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT. Korea-UK LINK will support 10-12 government officials each year to spend up to 23 months in the UK to study for a master’s degree and placement in relevant sector organisations.

The British Council will compile a list of recommended programmes from which each applicant can choose from and apply. Courses should be 2-year programmes comprising of a master’s degree and professional placement provided by UK education institutions. There is no restriction on the course subject, but there should be an element of ICT/Technology/Innovation reflecting current trends.

The British Council in Korea will facilitate the course application process, deliver pre-departure training and extra field trips and networking events in the UK during academic breaks, as well as alumni engagement programmes in Korea. Payment of tuition fees will be administered by the British Council office in the UK as well.

This programme starts with a 3-year commitment (2021-2023), with a strong likelihood of being extended.
