Now accepting registrations: Alumni UK platform -- connect with your Chinese alumni and increase your presence in China

There are now more than 600,000 Chinese graduates who have studied in the UK and returned to China. They form a strong foundation for UK-China relations and offer a committed network of advocates of the university, allowing universities to build longer-term and deeper relationships with their China alumni and build further connections in China.

The new British Council Alumni UK platform has been developed to create a growing network of China’s UK alumni and to support their career development. It is built to facilitate stronger and deeper relationships with a larger number of UK alumni, to support and enhance their employability, to provide access to professional development opportunities and to expand their networks. We would like to invite UK HEIs to register on the platform.

The platform will be officially launched in China in early 2020.

Benefits to UK HEIs

  • Stay connected with your graduates in China
  • Have an official presence in China among UK alumni
  • Promote events and networking sessions to alumni in China
  • Post job vacancies on the platform to reach out to all registered graduates
  • Build connections with education agents, UK alumni and commercial organisations

Background

The innovative ideas and suggestions of UK alumni have been taken into account throughout the development of this platform.

During the Prime Minister’s visit to China in January 2018, the alumni competition “Stay Connected!” – UK Alumni Engagement Solutions Competition was launched, inviting Chinese UK alumni to develop creative ideas and solutions to encourage greater engagement and connectivity among alumni in China and globally.

The British Council hosted the competition in partnership with Deloitte China’s Digital Division and it was judged by a group of experts from the digital, technology and education sectors. The winning proposal was selected for its ease of use, sustainability, low-maintenance nature and adaptability, with the potential of being replicated across other markets.
