Myanmar Imperial College (MIC) seeks UK partners for Top-up degrees in Hospitality and Arts and Media programmes

Myanmar Imperial College (MIC) is looking for UK partners to deliver Top-Up programmes in the field of Hospitality, Arts and Media for their HND students this year.

  • recruit graduate students for Masters programmes in the future

Areas of responsibility for the two collaboration parties

The selected UK university will be expected to:

  • send teaching staff to train MIT faculty members and support the team on quality assurance
  • provide teaching materials to MIC’s teaching faculty

MIC will be responsible for:

  • promoting and recruiting students for the programmes
  • providing qualified teaching staff and facilities

Brief introduction to MIC

Myanmar Imperial College was established in 2006, with the aim of being the first choice private institution in Myanmar to develop qualified leaders with strong positive attitudes and ethics. The new campus opened in August 2015. The new building reflects state-of-the-art architecture design with more than 26 classrooms, a substantial library, lecture halls, media labs, work stations, a gym and indoor football field on the rooftop.

Additionally MIC is an Edexcel Approved Centre which offers High National Diplomas in Business, Marketing and Branding, Media, Hospitality and Tourism. MIC also delivers Top-Up degrees in Business Administration, Marketing and Branding, MBA and DBA in collaboration with the University of Northampton for students who complete their HNDs at MIC. Currently there are 1450 students enrolled at MIC and there are plans to increase this number.

It is advised that potential partners find out more about the English language proficiency of the HND graduate students at MIC, whether they have the potential to be able to fulfil the entry requirements of the UK partner university to get direct entry into Top-up programmes, or if there is a need for MIC to deliver a bridging course (developed in collaboration). Regarding national legislation, local private colleges are registered under the Ministry of Commerce as service providers. The private education law, drafted in 2014, is still under consideration; when it becomes law, private colleges are expected to be able to register as education providers , which will enable them to be part of a quality assurance structure and potentially lead to the recognition of qualifications.
