Malaysia: Tourism and hospitality college seeking partnerships

A tourism and hospitality college in Malaysia is seeking to partner prospective UK universities interested to deliver franchised undergraduate degree programmes in the areas of hospitality, hotel and/or tourism management. Prospective UK institutions should be open to delivering the full programme in Malaysia.

Other programmes which are of interest to the college include business management and event management.

The college was established in the early 1980s to train tour guides for a travel organisation. By the late 1980s, the then training centre grew to become a college to cater for the growing student population. The college now hosts more than 1000 students across its three campuses in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru. 60 per cent of their students are undertaking their Diploma programmes in:

  • Hotel and Tourism Management
  • Business Management
  • Accountancy
  • Event Management
  • Mass Communication

The college is registered with the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. Their Diploma programmes are also accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency.

Action Required

Interested UK institutions should send an Expression of Interest to June Lo by 7 November 2016. Institutions should preferably include a short one-pager on their institution and links to the course(s) they propose for partnership. This will be forwarded to the local college for their review.
