Malaysia: January 2018 Intake and Postgraduate Studies Digital Marketing Campaign

We are inviting UK institutions to take part in a digital marketing campaign to promote their January 2018 intake and/or postgraduate studies offerings. This would be beneficial in raising the institutions' profile and ultimately drive recruitment for future intakes.

Market background:

Malaysia is the fourth largest source of international students to the UK, contributing 4% of the total. The majority of Malaysian students in the UK are doing their undergraduate programme and a third of these students went to UK via TNE arrangements. There has been a decline in number of Malaysian students to the UK over the past two years and this is attributed to the sluggish economy and recent reduction of government scholarships for Malaysian students to study overseas. However, Malaysia is still seen as a priority market for the UK as a source of international students.

Recent data from the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) has also reported a 14 per cent increase in the number of students undertaking a postgraduate taught qualification in Malaysia between 2014-2015, signalling an increasing interest in postgraduate studies. The report also highlighted the likelihood of a higher salary a one with a postgraduate qualification could demand compared to one with an undergraduate qualification. Institutions participating in this campaign will have the opportunity to reach to a wide target audience through British Council's digital marketing channels.

- To promote the presence of your institution at Study UK Malaysia Exhibition and drive traffic to enquire at your booth.

2. January 2018 Intake
- To promote the courses available at your institution for January 2018 intake, generate interest and drive recruitment to your institution for January intake.

3. Postgraduate Studies
-To promote the postgraduate courses available at your institution, generate interest and drive recruitment for postgraduate studies.

* Background of afterschool.my:
An online platform which provides higher education information for school leavers with recorded of more than 30 million visitors up to date. Afterschool.my is currently ranked highest amongst other higher education website in Malaysia. 82% of the platform visitors are Malaysian, and 72% out of this are from Klang Valley. Afterschool.my also have a dedicated section that provide UK education information which attracts targeted audience.
