Join the UK-Romania higher education collaboration forum
Registrations have been extended till 8 October to join and contribute to the second face-to-face UK-Romania higher education partnerships event, as part of the Going Global Partnerships Programme. Building on the fruitful dialogue initiated through the bilateral forum in February 2024 seeking to facilitate the interest of UK and Romanian universities in pursuing institutional collaboration.
Taking place in Cluj-Napoca, from 30 to 31 October 2024, the two-day participatory forum (some sessions will be hybrid) will bring together Romanian and UK universities as well as agencies to exchange knowledge and practice, strengthen capacity, and initiate and continue dialogues with partners and potential partners.
About the event
Across two days, the event includes:
- agency presentations/panel discussion: implications of the new Higher Education law for Romanian international departments and their potential partners and how it supports collaboration between the two countries
- Update: The role of Quality Assurance - MoU signed between QAA and the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education ARACIS
- Capacity building and sharing of experience on how can Transnational Education support an institution’s internationalisation strategy
- overview of Transnational Education (TNE) models, case studies of different, existing Romania-UK TNE programmes
- facilitated discussions to scope the needs, priorities and recommendations for potential collaborations
- thematic workshops on HE collaboration models and approaches in an evolving landscape, such as research and joint degrees
- event networking session.
Thematic workshops
The forum will focus on the TNE models and approaches in an evolving landscape. Run in an interactive format workshops are meant to allow delegates to explore areas of greatest interest to them.
Proposed topics (non-exhaustive list) :
- Establishing partnerships and academic exchanges with other HE institutions/Integrated curricula and joint degrees/programmes and their role within the HE internationalisation agenda
- Best practice and potential collaboration on themes such as:
- Medicine &AI
- Climate sustainability
- Staff development
- Work-integrated learning
- Joint/Split-site PhDs
- Research Collaboration (including Horizon)
- Blended learning, microcredit or restricted educational programs (including TNE – evaluation of TNE programmes)
Who can apply
This forum will be useful for senior staff who are responsible for global engagement, and the development of international strategies across transnational education, research, and mobility. Job titles of the attendees may include:
- pro-vice-chancellor (international)
- deputy vice principal/director/deputy director of international/Europe/recruitment
- head or assistant head of global partnerships/projects
- head or assistant head of study abroad
- research development manager
Key details
Dates: 30 to 31 October 2024
Funding: Participants will need to bear their respective costs for travel. However, accommodation will be arranged and covered by the British Council Romania, meals will be provided during the event.
