Introduction

The Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture (MoEC) are inviting interest from UK institutions to host Indonesian students on a short-term basis under the ‘Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards’ scheme.

Funding from MoEC includes:

• Programme Fee

Paid at cost directly to the overseas partner university

• Living Allowances

Include accommodation & monthly allowances for students

• Travel Cost

Roundtrip economy class airfare from Jakarta to UK

Benefits for UK institutions

• Selected partner institutions will be working in close coordination with Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture for this student mobility initiative
• The opportunity will strengthen and expand linkages with key Indonesian government education authorities  
• The programme will facilitate international student diversity, exchange and networks with Indonesian HEIs

Responsibilities of interested UK institutions:

Overseas university partners are expected to be able to:

• Facilitate enrolment in undergraduate level courses with credits and grades issued upon completion of the semester. Indonesian students are expected to take up to 20 credit units for this program. The Ministry expects students to learn some of the skills listed in “The Ten Skills for the Future Workforce”.  
• Facilitate programmes for the Indonesian students to undertake practical assignments to hone their skills. This program may be delivered in partnership with external providers. This may take the form of industrial placement/short-term internship/industry/practical experience or professional networking.
• Facilitate cultural events for the students; these may take place with international student societies, or university/external festivals/cultural activities such as UK traditions, theatre, art and sports among suitable activities.
• Provide any necessary services for international student support such as pastoral care.

Additional information

• The Ministry of Education and Culture Kemdikbud is responsible for all education sectors in Indonesia from early childhood to higher education DIKTI or Directorate General for Higher Education. It is responsible for formulating and executing higher education policy, and in general overseeing delivery of higher education by both public and private providers in Indonesia. https://dikti.kemdikbud.go.id/
• ‘Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards’ is the Government of Indonesia scholarship scheme to fund Indonesian students for mobility programmes at top universities overseas. Undergraduate students could spend up to one semester at the overseas university partner to study, to experience the host country’s culture and to undertake practical assignments to hone their skills. This scheme is part of MoEC’s 'Merdeka Belajar - Kampus Merdeka' programme.
• The scheme is centrally managed by Directorate General of Higher Education, Kemdikbud (Ministry of Education and Culture or MoEC) and is open for undergraduate students from all Indonesian higher education institutions.
• The objective of this scheme is to facilitate Indonesian students to gain knowledge and skills, exchange ideas and culture, and build networks with their peers, academics, and the international community overseas. For Indonesian universities, the scheme is expected to strengthen and develop academic partnerships with university partners overseas.
