Guizhou University seeks UK partners for TNE programmes in Plant Protection, Agricultural Pharmacology and Big Data

Opportunity

Guizhou University seeks UK partners for 4+0 or 3+1 bachelor’s degree or 3+1+1 master’s degree TNE programmes in the fields of Plant Protection, Agricultural Pharmacology and Big Data. The TNE programmes will lead to students receiving degrees from both universities upon successful completion of the joint programme. Guizhou University plans to enroll 100 students per year per subject area.

Areas of responsibility for the two collaborating parties

The selected UK partners will be expected to work with Guizhou University to:

  • Contribute to the four 1/3s requirement for joint programmes as stipulated by the Ministry of Education
  • support the enrolled students in English language leaning
  • support the quality assurance of the joint programmes
  • issue a bachelor’s or master’s degree to the students upon completion of the course

    Guizhou University will be responsible for:

  • gaining approval for the joint programme from the Ministry of Education
  • recruiting students for the programmes
  • providing qualified teaching staff as well as the required teaching premises and logistical support
  • supporting the quality assurance of the joint programmes
  • supporting prospective students in preparing to study in the UK as part of the programmes

About Guizhou University

Guizhou University (GZU) was founded in 1902 and is one of the key “211 Project” Universities in China, “14 National Key Construction Universities in the Central and West Region of China” and a member of the “One Top University, One Province” Project. In September 2017, the Ministry of Education released the selected list of the country’s construction plan of world-class universities and first-class disciplines. GZU was selected as one of 95 universities which will focus on building selected disciplines into first-class ones and the Discipline of Plant Protection is on the list of first-class disciplines, and the two national key disciplines are Agricultural Pharmacology and Big Data. At present, GZU has a full-time enrollment of 46,549 undergraduates and 7,575 postgraduates.

Since 2014, the province has made multiple innovations and ground breaking developments in the big data industry. In fact, Guizhou is now home to China’s first big data pilot zone, the number of big data enterprises in Guizhou has grown to 8,548 from less than 1,000 in 2013, attracting businesses with branches or joint ventures include Apple, Alibaba, Qualcomme, IBM, Huawei, Tencent, Baidu, Lenovo and Foxconn.
