Thailand’s internet users topped 25 million at the end of 2011, up 26.77 per cent from 2010. The number of internet users in Thailand is expected to grow by at least 30 per cent to 32.5 million in 2012

To cope with the changing trends in the cyber world in Thailand and to increase opportunities for UK institutions to meet with prospective Thai students, British Council Thailand is planning to organise its first virtual exhibitions in November 2012 and March 2013.

The first virtual exhibition in November is to provide opportunities for UK institutions offering Jan/Feb intake to promote their courses to prospective students. This will be run alongside the online marketing campaign to promote the Jan/Feb start to prospective students. The exhibition will also provide opportunities to students who have missed the September intake in 2012. Rather than forcing them to wait for another academic year or change their education destination to other countries, this will raise the awareness of Thai students on the Jan/Feb start availability and will help boost the overall number of students travelling to the UK. 

The virtual exhibition in March is to provide opportunities for UK institutions to follow up applications after the main exhibition in January in Bangkok. The seminar and the theme will be related to making an application such as how to write a personal statement.

Both virtual exhibitions (in November 2012 and in March 2013) are also designed to provide opportunities to UK institutions to cope with the increasing demands of students in the main cities outside of Bangkok, including Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, and Chiang Mai, without actually travelling there.
