Education Group in Korea seeks UK Partners for ESL Courses and Residence

Opportunity

Chosun Education Group in Korea is looking for UK partners to develop and deliver ESL courses and Coding software programmes in the UK. They aim to recruit up to 100 students per year and bring them to the UK to provide short term English courses combined with software programming coures. They have the first students start the programmes in Summer of 2017. The proposed model for the programme is as follows:

  • Name: Learn English and computer skills in the UK
  • Number of students: 50-100 Primary and Middle School students (3rd-9th grades)
  • Period: 2 months every Summer and Winter vacation
  • Course: ESL English courses in the morning + Computer Coding software courses in the afternoon (They will bring a computer teacher from Korea or recruit in the UK)

Background

In today’s digital world, coding is a fundamental skill alongside math and reading, but not many children have the opportunity to learn to programme because it was rarely taught in school. However, the ministry Education in Korea announced that Coding will be added as a regular subject for Middle School students from 2018 and for Primary School students from 2019, there are increasing nummber of parents and students who are interested in learning the programme. Therefore, Chosun Education Group in Korea is seeking a UK Partner university or an institution to provide them residence(dormitory) for 2 months, ESL English courses for students, and a classroom with computers (or laptops) for Coding classes.

Benefits for UK Partners

This is an opportunity for the selected UK partners to establish long-term partnerships with Education Groups in Korea, with potential for expansion into other fields, such as faculty exchange programmes or joint research as they already own a newspaper company and a TV channel. It is also an opportunity for the UK partners to raise their institutions’ profiles and brand awareness in Korea, which may benefit student recruitment.

Areas for responsibility

The selected UK partners will be expected to work with Chosun Education Group to:

  • provide the curricula for the ESL programmes
  • provide support in the quality assurance of the programmes
  • provide residence(dormitory) for 2 months for students
  • provide a classroom with computers(or laptops) for Coding classes

Chosun Education Group will be responsible for:

  • promoting and recruiting students for the programmes and bring them to the UK
  • providing qualified teaching staff for Coding classes
