East Asia School Counsellors Conference - Speaking Opportunities (call for session proposals)

The British Council is organising our first East Asia School Counsellors Conference in collaboration with UCAS and UKVI. The conference will take place in Bangkok for 1.5 days on March 12th and 13th, with a separate half day session for local Education Agents on the afternoon of the 13th. For the counsellors conference, we are targeting attendance of 150 from across the region. Most counsellors will come from Southeast Asia, with a limited number from China, North-East Asia markets and potentially South Asia.

The conference website can be viewed here - https://www.britishcouncil.or.th/en/ea-counsellor-conference

Speaking Opportunities

Key sessions will be delivered by UCAS and UKVI, and we would also like to invite UK universities to deliver sessions, either alone or as part of a panel. Content should be generic about studying in the UK, and hence there is no charge for speaking, although doing so will still have the benefit of enhancing your profile with this key group of stakeholders.

Topics that we believe would be of interest to the audience may include but not be limited to the following:

  • UK university applications – what happens within a university
  • Advising students on personal statements
  • Scholarships – what’s available and how to access them
  • Applying to selective universities
  • The UK student experience
  • Adjusting to student life in the UK
  • International student support (what can students access)
  • TEF and teaching quality
  • How to industry placements work?
  • Career support for international students
  • Subject specific applications (e.g. applying to law, medicine, architecture etc)
  • Pathway options to university

Speakers will be able to take part in the full conference and benefit from networking between sessions.

If you are interested in speaking opportunities, kindly refer to the attachment and return an Expression of Interest. If EoI exceed the number of session slots available we will look to combine proposals or may select proposals of most interest to the counsellor audience.

If you wish to promote your institution more directly, we will also have the opportunity to exhibit, i.e. with a decorated presence in the networking area of the event. Details of exhibition opportunities will be posted separately in the next few days.
