Deadline extended: contribute to the future of transnational education by joining the UK-East Asia Forum on Joint Quality Assurance of TNE

On 22 October 2018 the British Council and the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) will host a major UK-East Asia Forum on Joint Quality Assurance in Transnational Education in Kuala Lumpur. The forum is a part of the wider Think TNE – East Asia Transnational Education Dialogue Series.

Representatives from UK higher education institutions actively engaged in transnational education programmes, especially in East Asia, are invited to join the forum.

East Asia is home to more than a third of the UK’s transnational education students, with the UK’s top four transnational education markets located in this region. In 2016-17, more than 148,000 students from across the region were following a UK transnational education programme, including almost 120,000 on in-person courses and more than 28,000 on distance-learning programmes.

The British Council is committed to ensuring that the UK’s transnational education programmes in the region meet both students’ and employers’ expectations and provide them with high-quality qualifications.

The forum will bring together experts and key decision makers from across the EA region and UK education sector representatives to discuss and agree on a way forward for joint quality assurance in transnational education.

During the forum the current processes and regulations for quality assurance will be discussed, and collaborative approaches will be explored. In addition, case studies will be presented to consider how delivery, partnerships and joint quality assurance can be taken forward with the participating countries.

The British Council anticipates representatives from over 10 countries in East Asia to attend the forum

Benefits for participating institutions:

  • Contribute to the development of TNE quality assurance in East Asia
  • Further your understanding of TNE in East Asia
  • Learn best practice from leading UK and East Asia TNE providers
  • Discuss collaboration opportunities with other participants
