Chinese university seeks UK partner for joint undergraduate programmes

Opportunity

Shenyang University wants to expand its international offering and is looking for a UK partner to jointly develop and provide 3+1 or 4+0 dual-degree joint undergraduate programmes, based in Shenyang city of Liaoning province.

The proposed subjects include, but are not limited to: Civil Engineering; Environment Engineering; Architecture; Building Environment and Energy Application; Computer Science and Technology; IOT Engineering; and Electronic Information Engineering.

The joint programmes will recruit a total of approximately 100 students. The selected UK institution will partner with Shenyang University to provide the joint programmes for the first three or four years in China. A certain number of students will have the option of completing the last year of the joint programmes with the partner university in the UK to receive a dual-degree award.

Areas of responsibility for the two collaborating parties

The UK partner will be expected to:

  • design curriculum(s) for the chosen subject(s)
  • provide teachers to teach the programme(s) in China
  • provide teacher training to the Chinese teachers before the start of the programme(s)
  • provide quality assurance for the joint programme(s)

Shenyang University will:

  • provide funding
  • provide the Chinese teaching staff 
  • provide the teaching premises in China
  • recruit students

About Shenyang University
Shenyang University is located in North East China and named after Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province, which is the economic and cultural center of the province. The University was founded in 1980 and currently has more than 1,200 teachers and researchers, and more than 23,000 students. It consists of 19 teaching schools offering one PhD programme and 19 master’s degree programmes.

About Shenyang

Shenyang is the capital and the largest city of Liaoning province in North East China, with a population of more than 8 million. It is an important industrial centre and serves as the transportation and commercial hub of North East China. It is currently diversifying its economy to create a solid foundation in the following industrial sectors: aerospace, machine tools, heavy equipment, defence, software, automotive, and electronics.
