Chinese university seeks UK partner for joint undergraduate programmes

Shenyang Aerospace University wants to expand its international offering and is looking for a UK partner to launch a joint 3+1 or 4+0 undergraduate degree programme in aeronautical engineering for about 100 students.

This is an opportunity for UK institution to position themselves as a strategic partner for partnership with a specialized Aerospace university in Liaoning province and Northeast China, and to build their brand awareness in China, which may support future business opportunities for student recruitment and exchanges, curriculum development and teacher training. 

Areas of responsibility for the two collaborating parties

The UK partner will be expected to:

  • provide curriculum design
  • provide teachers to teach the programme in China
  • provide teacher training to the Chinese staff
  • provide quality assurance for the joint programme

Shenyang Aerospace University to:

  • provide the Chinese teaching staff 
  • provide the teaching premises in China
  • recruit students

About Shenyang Aerospace University

Shenyang Aerospace University was founded in 1952 and is located in Shenyang. It has more than 20,000 students and 1,600 staff. While its focus is on engineering disciplines, it covers diverse areas, including science, management, and liberal arts, from undergraduate through to PhD level.

Shenyang Aerospace University is home to the only aircraft maintenance center in China to have received approval from the China Civil Aviation Authority to maintain helicopters. It is also expecting to receive approval from the China Civil Aviation Authority to maintain fixed-wing aircraft. 30 aircrafts are provided on campus for students to gain practical experience.

About Shenyang

Shenyang is the capital and the largest city of Liaoning province in North East China, with a population of more than 8 million. It is an important industrial centre and serves as the transportation and commercial hub of North East China. It is currently diversifying its economy to create a solid foundation in the following industrial sectors: aerospace, machine tools, heavy equipment, defence, software, automotive, and electronics.
