Chinese university seeks UK partner for joint programmes in Physiotherapy and Electronic Engineering

Nantong University (NTU) is looking for a UK university partner to develop and deliver 3+1 joint programmes in the fields of Physiotherapy and Electronic Engineering, with a view to recruiting up to 50 undergraduate students each year for each subject starting in September 2018.

Benefits for the UK partner

The UK partner will have the opportunity to:

  • build a long-term partnership with a leading university in East China, with scope for this partnership to expand in the future
  • raise their institution’s profile and brand awareness in China
  • receive financial reimbursement for their support, to be further negotiated with NTU

Areas of responsibility for the two collaborating parties

The selected UK partner will be expected to work with NTU to:

  • jointly develop curriculums for the joint programmes
  • send teaching staff to teach at NTU in Nantong and provide support in the quality assurance of the programmes

NTU will be responsible for:

  • promoting and recruiting students and faculty members for the programmes
  • providing qualified teaching staff as well as the required teaching and living premises and logistical support for the UK teaching staff

Brief introduction of NTU

NTU was established in 1912 and is a comprehensive university jointly administered by Jiangsu Provincial Government and the Ministry of Communication of the People’s Republic of China. NTU has four campuses, twenty-three schools, and one affiliated hospital. It has 36,000 full time students, 3,200 faculty members, including 1,461 professors and associate professors, and 1,131 doctoral tutors and master’s tutors.  NTU offers 100 bachelor degree programmes covering ten academic fields, 21 master degree programmes and three doctoral degree programmes in preclinical medicine, clinical medicine and information and communication engineering.

NTU’s areas of strength include scientific research and innovation developments.  NTU has won several high level awards including the National Award for Technological Invention, the Science and Technology Awards of the Ho Leung Fund and the Chinese Medical Achievement Award.

NTU attaches great importance to international exchange and cooperation and has established partnerships and exchange programmes with 71 universities around the world. These include eight partnerships with UK universities;  the University of Manchester, Birmingham City University, the University of Leicester, Glyndwr University, the University of East Anglia, the University of York, the University of Bedfordshire and De Montfort University.
