The College of Foreign Languages & Cultures at Sichuan University is seeking a UK university to establish a partnership in the field of conference interpreting. Initially this partnership would take the form of:

- Summer Camps: 4-6 weeks intensive professional interpretation summer camp for students at the UK partner institution;
- Staff exchange and academic research:
o Short, medium and long-term institutional visits
o Continuing professional development programmes
o Visiting scholars
o Joint academic research

Building on the joint partnership, the College is interested in exploring the possibility of establishing a joint graduate degree programme in Conference Interpreting, which would combine the strengths of both Sichuan University and the partner university, and incorporate international experience fully into the student's programme of study. Students would be jointly taught, supervised, assessed and awarded a dual degree.

Sichuan University would like to work with UK universities with recognised strengths in the teaching of conference interpreting and research into different types of interpreting.

*Project 985 is a project established in 1998 to promote the development and reputation of the Chinese higher education system by founding world-class universities in the 21st century. Project 211is a project of National Key Universities and colleges initiated in China in 1995, with the intent of raising the research standards of high-level universities and cultivating strategies for socio-economic development.
