Chinese agency calls for UK provider of summer football programmes

A Chinese agency is looking for a UK provider offering summer football courses suitable for Chinese students.

Introduction of Chinese agency:

This opportunity is from a travel agency based in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, China. The agency is experienced in dealing with summer school programmes and already has a number of general UK summer school partnerships in place. It now wants to expand its offering with summer football programmes.

Programme expectations:

Ideally, groups should consist of 20–25 students of 13–17 years of age and be open to students of all nationalities. The purpose of the programme should be to experience UK culture through football. Participants should improve their football skills while also learning English.

The programme can either focus on football with an all-day training schedule, or football training in the afternoon can be combined with English lessons in the morning. Weekend excursions would be desirable.

The programme should be two to three weeks in length and feature elements of Manchester United Football Club, as it is a well-known team in China and will help with recruitment.

Action Required

UK providers interested in this opportunity should send a sample programme along with details of the programme location, accommodation arrangements, a price range and an explanation of how the course will integrate elements of Manchester United Football Club to su.si@britishcouncil.org.cn by 5pm (GMT) on 16 January 2015.

The British Council will charge £40 for each student enrolled on the programme as a service commission, which is payable by the proposal winner.

Please note the British Council is only involved in the provision of partnership brokering services. The final decision lies with the agent and will depend on the price quotation, programme design and content, programme location, teaching resources and other factors.
