Call for UK institutions to participate in the China Schools Roadshow 2016

UK universities are invited to participate in the British Council’s China Schools Roadshow 2016, which is scheduled to take place in China from 18 October to 1 November. The roadshow, which was run successfully last year, is now open to applications from all UK universities.

The roadshow is designed specifically to provide UK universities with a platform to raise their profile in China, recruit prospective Chinese students, and build and strengthen links and relationships with schools in China. It will coincide with the China Education Expo 2016, which will run from 22 October to 30 October, a time when Chinese students will begin the decision-making process for overseas study.

Outline

The roadshow will consist of a seven-stop tour (itinerary below), visiting local schools in major student-sending cities across mainland China and featuring a series of promotional activities. Each stop will provide an opportunity to visit a maximum of two schools, and will involve meetings with local school contacts to explore opportunities for partnership building, a panel discussion on topics that students (AS level and below or equivalent) are interested in, in addition to a Q&A or individual counselling session and the distribution of promotional material. British Council staff will be on hand to answer general enquiries.

Participation fee

The British Council will charge a participation fee of £300 per Chinese school visited, exclusive of VAT, which will cover programme planning, co-ordination, briefing and logistical support during the event. Participation is limited to a maximum of two representatives from each institution.

Please note, the participation fee will not cover international or domestic travel, accommodation, subsistence or freight.

Visa

A visa will be necessary for UK passport holders to participate in the China School Roadshow 2016. The British Council can provide invitation letters to participants who require a visa, but it is the responsibility of the applicant institution to follow the correct procedures.

Further information regarding visas for China can be found on the website of the Chinese Embassy in the UK (http://www.chinese-embassy.org.uk/eng/visa/).
