The British Council and LOOK Magazine are looking for a partner UK university for the Look of Style Awards 2017

The British Council in the Philippines is looking for a UK institution partner for the Look of Style Awards 2017, to be held this October 2017.

The Look of Style Awards is an annual fashion competition and is delivered in partnership with the most widely read broadsheet newspaper company in the Philippines, the Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI). The event will be under PDI’s LOOK Magazine, a bi-monthly magazine inserted in their heavily advertised Lifestyle Section, which focuses on style, beauty and fashion.

The competition will highlight the creations of young designers from all over the Philippines under two categories — apparel and accessories design. An open call will be made and then three regional selections are set—one for each island group of the country. Ten finalists for each category are selected and then invited to the finals night in Manila in October.

The media partner ensures substantial media mileage for the event and the partners, for both print and digital media. Their newspaper alone has more than 2.7 million readers daily and the lifestyle section is always the heavily advertised section due to its readership. The previous PR value delivered was estimated at GBP 55,000 and an ad value worth GBP 20,000.

Participation cost: GBP 3,000

How you will take part as a partner institution

We are calling for bids from UK institutions to cover for the following:

  • A short course for the two (2) competition winners (one from each contest category) in your institution
  • Identify a professor in fashion design from your institution who will fly to Manila to take part as a judge/mentor in the competition and speak in a public lecture (the British Council will cover only the accommodation; the flight will be shouldered by the UK institution)

In exchange, the UK partner will be able to:

  • Send a fashion design professor to be part of the judging panel
  • Deliver a one-day public workshop before or after the finals night
  • Take advantage of secondary billing on promo materials including event print and online media advertisements
  • Display banners and distribute brochures or publications about the institution during the workshop and the finals night
  • Get live acknowledgment as a sponsor/partner during the finals night
  • Have mentions in at least four (4) press releases in the Philippine Daily Inquirer (print) or Inquirer.net (online), including (1) feature story about the institution (e.g. 2016 LOOK of Style Awards winners headed for Istituto Marangoni London, Who are the young designers to be chosen for Istituto Marangoni London?)
  • Have a post-event feature when the sponsored winners returns from attending the course at the partner institution (e.g. LOOK winner does London)

Deadline for submission of interest (Annex 1) is on 8 June 2017 (23.59 UK time).
