Nishogakusha University, a private university in Tokyo, is looking for UK universities to discuss potential university-wide partnerships for student exchanges, summer programmes and academic exchanges. A member of staff from the university would like to make a scoping visit to potential universities in early September 2016.

The university is interested in the following areas once the partnership is established:

• Student exchanges
• Host UK study abroad students in the fields of study related to Japanese language and culture with potential funding available
• Two to three week summer programmes which cover English and academic study for Japanese students
• Academic exchanges in the fields of study related to Japanese language and culture

Brief profile of Nishogakusha University:
Nishogakusha University was established in 1877 by Chushu Mishima, who was a scholar of Chinese classics and a major figure in the legal profession. A great Japanese novelist, Soseki Natsume was also a student of Nishogakusha University. At present, Nishogakusha University comprises two disciplinary faculties: the Faculty of Literature and the Faculty of International Politics and Economics.  Nishogakusha  is located near the Imperial Palace in the heart of Tokyo  and has a student body of around 2,800. The university’s traditions, history, and cutting-edge curriculum allow international students to take advantage of the fulfilling academic environment and learn spontaneously. Internationalisation of the university is the central goal in the university’s long-term vision. In order to achieve this aim, they  have been working on the following areas: campus diversity, and establishment of foreign language programmes and international exchange programmes.
