The 2012 UK Alumni Christmas Charity Gala co-organised by the British Council Taipei and Lih Poh Art and Cultural Foundation was held on 21 December 2012. This year-end gathering brought together more than 120 guests, including UK alumni from 28 UK universities, event contributors, alumni ambassadors, or working partners who have been enthusiastically engaged in various British Council activities over the past year and welcomed children and social workers from the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (registered charity). It was an occasion to get together to celebrate and an opportunity to participate in charity work, making the event a true reflection of the Christmas spirit.

Event activities included performances by a children’s dance group formed by the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, magic and balloon tricks, a buffet dinner, and an auction of items sponsored by WEDGWOOD and the Fullerton Hotel. The highlight of the evening was the making of a collective artwork by all guests, the finished artwork was then bought by Lih Poh Art and Cultural Foundation to be displayed at various exhibitions across Taiwan. All proceeds and gifts collected during the event were donated to the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families.

The event received positive feedback from all participating guests, especially UK alumni expressing their desire to be part of meaningful events as such in the future which also doubled as a networking opportunity.

Note: The British Council Taipei Alumni Network links and engages with people from Taiwan who have studied in the UK and bring them together as a community connected by their experience. We engage with UK alumni through alumni relations events including education, culture, professional and social networking. Alumni make influential spokespersons for UK education promotions, counselling and various events.
