The British Council organised a press tour to Scotland on 14-19 March 2016. Six local journalists met representatives from the Scottish government and visited a number of leading institutions. Through the tour, the press got a better understanding of the Scottish education system and Scottish education institutes through a range of activities like meeting with Hong Kong students who are studying in Scotland, campus tour, participating the taster lectures and Civic Reception.
The six participating journalists include Oriental Daily, Mingpao Daily, South China Morning Post, The Standard, Smart Parents Magazine and HK01.com.
The event was a great success and received positive feedback from the participating institutions –
‘I would be interested to discuss how we could work together in the future for benefit of both parties and perhaps also plan some press visits going forward. Many thanks again for the opportunity to showcase the University to your press group,’ said Andrew Moffat, Press and PR Officer of University of Edinburgh.
The press tour generated 13 printed newspaper/ magazine articles and 14 online articles with over HK$1.5 million media value. The number of circulation is over 2.8 million.
Special thanks to the Scottish Government and six Scottish institutions which provided support to our press tour:
- University of Edinburgh
- University of Glasgow
- Glasgow School of Art
- Lomond School
