As the education partner for GREAT Campaign, the British Council has undertaken a whole range of activity to encourage and increase the number of students applying to study in the UK. The activities, designed with the help of an external public relations agency are focused to promote the Education UK brand, eliminate myths around VISA policies and highlight the career and growth opportunities that come with a UK qualification.
As part of the campaign, British Council along with 36 universities from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, have introduced a new scholarship programme. The GREAT Scholarship programme – India, offers 370 scholarships, amounting to approximately 1 million pounds, covering over 250 courses from the fields of Art and Design, Business, Biosciences, Engineering, Information Technology and Law.
GREAT Scholarships, the largest UK scholarships programme of its kind in India, along with the GREAT Careers Guide, which highlights the career opportunities offered by the top ten subjects chosen by Indian students, continue to be widely promoted through various media channels and digital platforms across India. The GREAT campaign has been on the road around the country to drum up enthusiasm and positive PR for UK education. So far British Council has covered 13 major cities for the campaign for which 221 articles have been published in national and regional newspapers and also digital news and networking platforms, with a total reach of over 86 million people.
With the enthusiastic support of partners of the GREAT Campaign and the Prime Minister’s office we are now in planning stages for next year’s campaign which will see more focus around employability.
