On the 20th and 21st April 2015, British Council Kenya hosted the Education UK Oil and Gas Exhibition in Nairobi.

This is the first of hopefully a number of new initiatives in Kenya, so was very much a new opportunity. A total of eleven exhibitors attended from a number of UK institutions, and were greeted with a total of 660 visitors, the majority of whom were naturally interested in Oil and Gas market opportunities. Most visitors knew the institutions they that wanted to visit which helped save time for themselves and other visitors. Hand-outs on the courses offered by each university present were also made available at the registration desk.

Whilst proving popular, the results from the visitor survey showed that the venue was not ideal. We are already looking into alternatives for next year. There was also an observation that the day was too long. While the event was designed into one compact day for a maximum benefit in value for money, we will factor in the length of the day in our next event.

The survey also recommended making Kenya an annual event without limiting subject areas/courses so as to allow participation from a wide range of universities. We are already looking into this and have started planning for the next event.
